Hiding the recent changes menu from a moss wiki page library

It is near impossible to control the Recent Changes Menu from within the Wiki Pages Library.  I had a situation in the Archives wiki site where I only wanted the recent changes to appear from approved articles.  The menu was displaying all changes, including pending ones awaiting approval.
It seemed that a Content PlaceHolder not only holds the content you put into but it also generates some controls itself and overrides everything you put there yourself!
To get around this, the best approach I could find was to hide the <asp:contentplaceholder from the default.master pages. So I applied the Visible=""False"" attribute.
